Commercial Review March 31, 2009

For the commercial I chose an Ad from 1978 about why breakfast is so important. Its visual effects are quite comical but I thought the different types of shots were used well. Beggining with a medium shot on a young kid getting out of bed at the sound of breakfast being made the music video soon zooms in on hands that are cracking an egg in a pot. These hands are delicate so it is safe to say they are the little boy/girl’s mother. After this action there are a series of still shots. There are multiple with the different ways you are able to cook eggs and the different ways you are able to eat them. There are also different shots of children looking excited to eat the eggs and the parents who are also overly thrilled. On the subject of color it is a little harder to make out because the quality is not very high, but as far as I can tell there is just a normal use of color and no visual apects to make something stand out more than the other. The eggs are always the bright food on the plate but besides that this is a pretty dull video. The reason I picked it was because it made me laugh with its theme “Get Crackin” and the song that coincided with it.

Hahaha this commercial is ridiculous. The theme song made me laugh. It actually does use a lot of good visual tools with different types of shots though, like the zoom out on the eggs and the medium shots that you wrote about.
